A new Nicklaus at Baha Mar?
« on: March 13, 2013, 05:31:29 PM »
Just returned from quick break in Nassau - a huge new development is going in on Cable Beach, near the airport - it is called 'Baha Mar' and at $3.6bb is reportedly "the single, largest resort investment in the history of region."   Phase one will include 2,200 guest rooms across multiple, first-class hotels and the Caribbean’s largest branded Las Vegas-style casino.  My cabbie told me the money is from China, and they apparently have shipped in 4,000 Chinese laborers to complete the construction (my impression after the 4 days is the Bahamians may just be too laid back to meet the deadlines!) - an 18-hole Nicklaus course appears to be well underway - should be a good addition to the golf scene in Nassau, though I'm sure it will be premium-priced.  Anybody know anything about the course??

Looks like they are in the market for a superintendant, although the posting doesn't give any details about the course.

It will be a new signature course with 9 holes on the old cable beach golf club and 9 holes on adjacent parcels of land that was existing jungle. The site has some great topography that you wouldn't expect to see on the island.
