Jerry,
I have not heard much about this course, other than it is 27 holes and paspalum turf. The work started about 5 years ago and to date, around $15 million has been spent.

Jerry, Jerry, Jerry,

It opened the first week of November. The local paper said they have been 98% booked since they opened.  It is on Glades Rd. West of Boca proper.

Go to golfnow.com for courses and tee times next week. You might try Winston Trails which is five minutes from where you are staying. It is a Joe Lee design and they keep the greens in very good condition. It won't disappoint someone who lives south of the Mason Dixon line but far too north in the winter.

Michael, Michael, Michael - Merry Christmas - I have played Winston Trails and I agree that it is okay but West Palm Beach GC is far superior in my view. What I have found on golfnow.com is that North Palm Beach GC is now offering reduced rates which is good news.

Mike,

Great seeing you the other day.

How do you know Howard ?

Where is Osprey Point in Boca ?

I know Glades Road and the Boca Raton Municipal course which is just west of the Turnpike, but, where on Glades Rd is Osprey Point ?

Pat: It appears to be as far west as you can go on Glades Road.

It's a Roy Case/Jeff Grossman design:

Case designed the nearby Park Ridge GC with Grossman assisting. Based on the good work done there, I'd play there without question.

Pat, the course is in a large park bordering on a reserve at the end of Glades.  As for Howard, we meet thru business years ago.  Cheers.

I did play it a couple of years ago and found it to be one of the better public options in the area.  In fact, I am in the area for a few days and may play there on Monday.

Mike, I was on Glades Road today, all the way out to 441, and didn't see a golf course.
Where about's on Glades is it ?

was just down in boca for xmas eve to new years eve. preface: 26 yrs old, 4 handicap, been going down to this part of the country for 1-2 weeks for nearly every year of my life. started playing real courses there in 98 (emerald dunes, polo trace) and have played really pretty much all the publics down there and some of the private clubs (trump, boca rio, polo club, the falls, boca west, to name a few).

in short as the public courses go, osprey point is fantastic. 27 holes, cheap, fun holes, pretty and most importantly EXCELLENT conditions. it is firm and fast. its paspalam (spelling?) grass as opposed to the bermuda so it is not nearly as grainy.  in the past 2 years the other publics i have played besides here are the resort course at the hotel, polo trace and boca greens.

the conditions at osprey are as good as they are at boca west. think about that for a second. boca west is a private club home community w/ 72 holes and is 1 of the best run clubs in the country. osprey's are right there and they blow away the public course competition.

just my 2 cents. you can do a lot worse than osprey in the palm beach / boca / ft lauderdale corridor. while my personal favorites for a challenge are colony west and the cypress course @ palm aire, you can't even play the ball down at those places.

in one sentence - if conditions matter to you, osprey point is the destination.
