Suggestions for an architecturally-sound, midwinter escape
« on: December 14, 2012, 01:35:35 PM »
I and a friend need to get away for some mid-winter golf the stretch of February 15 (leave town that evening) to 19 (return that evening.) We will depart Buffalo and will drive (flying not in the budget.) I'm curious as to the thoughts from the tree house on possible destinations. The goal is to golf Saturday, Sunday and Monday and drive exhaustedly home. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Pinehurst!   Twelve hours through Pittsburg.

You could play it by ear and check the weather as the date nears. 7 hours to Atlantic City NJ, 8 hours to Ocean City, MD, 10 hours to Mrytle Beach. Just keep heading further south as the weather dictates.

Holston Hills in Knoxville might be a decent option.

Virginia Beach has mild weather (usually mid 50s) in mid-February, some good golf, nightlife, etdc., plus the ocean to look at if that matters.

Pinehurst area speaks for itself, plus you can practice your new putting stroke:

Ha, Jim Boy, you can't skunk a skunk. I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. That putting stroke is illegal.

Isn't Thaw Out like the week or two before? Go play in that.

Senyor Sam, the reason for giving dates is because I'm locked in to those dates. Much as I'd like to play Thaw Out, my teaching schedule won't allow it.

Take an extra day and hump it down to Streamsong!
