George - Looking at Cornish & Whitten I see that Riddell's was Devereux Emmet 1922 (solo), Belmont Hotel & Club 9 holes 1924 & A9 1928 also solo by Emmet.

Your comment about taking over for a busy Raynor might have applied at Belmont and perhaps worked with Banks at Mid Ocean in the early 1920's.  Banks died in 1931 after "laying out" Castle Harbor.- who finished that in 1932 ?

By the way, Joe, a Tom Stewart mashie niblick just sold on ebay for $338.33 which was owned by someone in the United Kingdom who labled himself "Far and Sure", a member of Ebay since 2000.

That's strange.  I thought Tillinghast died years ago.

I'm bumping this thread as someone asked me to re-link to the two articles that were no longer displaying.

Are there any good books about Raynor? I know George Bahto wrote a chapter in his book about MacDonald, and had planned to write a book about Raynor. Is this still in the works?

That article just makes me even more intrigued about Raynor. Has there ever been someone as influential as he that so little is known about?

Great article. Thanks for finding/sharing. I was fortunate to play 2 Raynor courses this year and I am definitely a huge fan. Keen to learn more about the man.
