Delaware Golf news: 4 courses...
« on: December 27, 2016, 10:19:16 PM »
3 of which are closed and one still hanging around are ripe for development but the 3 closed courses are tied up in litigation or stalled in the development process.  Three Little Bakers was one of the great names for a golf course anywhere. Fun course. Too bad.

Originally 3 Little Bakers was Pike Creek Valley. I joined it just out of college for a few hundred dollars. It was a solid course.

Both Hercules and Pike Creek were on great land for golf. Cavaliers wasn't as interesting and I never played Brandywine.

I played Hercules in a GAP match. Interesting, hilly course. Brandywine was a " historically Jewish club" that had declining membership, was located off 202 and became semi- private and then public. The land was too valuable to remain a golf course.

Delaware National was one of the first courses I played after moving to the U.S. eleven years ago.

Bigger question is, when will DuPont/Dow divest of DuPont Country Club?  Apparently the property has liberal development rights.

I grew up at DuPont and just came up with an idea to combine Montchanin and Nemours into a top notch course with a great practice facility.
