usually during march or november after my clubs had closed for the year.

Closest experience I can come up with is at Sea Trail in Sunset Beach, NC. 

Sea Trail has three courses, known as the Maples, Byrd, and Jones (Rees) courses.  I have played each of the three several times, but have zero recollection of which one is which, and if I was plopped down in the middle of any of the three, I'd have no earthly idea which one of the three I was on.  Not really a very good recommendation for any of the three, and the only place I can think of where I've had that experience.

BTW, my impression as I type this is that I somehow like the Maples course the best, but I wouldn't swear to it.
