With the European Tour calling this week at the Nordea Masters at Bro Hof Slott, I thought I'd finally get around to posting some photos from the 2010 tournament.
All distances are from the white tees, as the back tees (black) are not being used, except at one or two holes. In some cases the shorter yellow tees are being used, for example at the par three 7th, where they list the hole at 192 mtrs, yet they are playing from the 142 mtr yellow tee. I'm puzzled as to why they keep listing the incorrect hole distances for the 3rd year in succession. The 18th hole is listed as 432 mtrs, but that tee does not exist. The plan was to have a tee back at the waters edge, but I believe environmental constraints put a stop to that. In fact, there has been quite a bit of discussion on how they got permission to locate holes on the water's edge. The usual limit of 100m was somehow not applied, and some people are wondering why. The 18th hole is in fact 372 mtrs in length.
The course was designed by the RTJ II group, and my understanding is that Bruce Charlton was the principal architect. The course was laid out at the edge of Lake Mälären and is quite flat. The fairways are wide and the greens are fast and have significant movement within them. Sergio Garcia commented today that he would soften the slopes if he owned the course. I hope the owner doesn't take his opinion too seriously, as I think the green are quite interesting. They just need to get the pace right.
