OT—Taxi Service Fife and East Lothian
« on: November 25, 2018, 06:13:03 PM »
My wife and I are not going to drive or train so please PM me if you can recommend a taxi/car service that we can pre-book for transportation next year from Edinburgh to North Berwick, North Berwick to St Andrews, and back to Edinburgh.

Golf and lodging already booked so just interested in transportation.

Many thanks,

Ira

We splurge to avoid driving on our International trips. With age comes some flexibility.

Ira....I didn't have much confidence in driving on opposite side of road so I too hired a car.  I used standrewsshuttle
info@standrewsshuttle.com
It was 80 pounds from airport to old course hotel
Then it was 160 pounds from St Andrews to Edinburgh to my hotel (Marriott) and onward to North Berwick with a pickup after the round back to my hotel.
Was reliable and I saw if it is during the beginning or end of the semesters they have very cheap ride shares of down to 30 pounds even from the airport.

Ira,

I would not dismiss the train option as it would give you the chance to cross the Forth on the iconic railway bridge. Just a thought.

The financial shock of our recent trip north was the cost of the train to St Andrews. The return tickets from Haymarket to Leuchers were nearly as much as those from Stockport to Edinburgh!

Factor in the taxi from Leuchers to St Andrews and split three ways the cab fare all the way would not have been much different!

I live in North Berwick and the two taxi firms we use are

http://www.jimstaxis.co

and

http://www.a2btaxisnorthberwick.co.uk

Neither are  at the 'luxury' end of golf oriented shuttles but either will do the job you need. A quick email or call to them both should give you an idea of costs and availability. You may wish to use a St Andrews-based  service for the final leg back to Edinburgh.

When are you coming?

Just curious... is Uber not available in Edinburgh, Glasgow or St. Andrews?

GCA is a great trip planner universe. So thanks to all. We will be there the first week of June. I plan early because these have become once in a lifetime trips.
