Great redan there.

You mean this one?

Played there with Wyatt Halliday.   We agreed there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Redanish about this hole!   No tilt, no deep bunker to circumvent with a running draw, NADA!

I feel better now, I didn't recall the hole playing anything like a Redan.

By far, the softest redan I've ever played.  Balls routinely plug short on that embankment on the right.  But I really enjoy the Bandit, with the standout hole being the par 3 #11 "pecan."

Frank,

I can't speak much about the golf in Austin, but in SA, the privates to play are Oak Hills and Briggs Ranch.  You'll be doing quite a bit of driving to get out Boot Ranch, Cordillera, and BR, but you could theoretically do OH and BR in a single day.  But I highly recommend taking your time at BR; great feel, great range, great service, and the course is perfect right now - the firmest I've ever seen it.  Completely different feels but both are great fun and give you a good feel of the new and old in town.

For the publics, my favorite has always been Pecan Valley.  Looking forward to her rebirth.

Jim,

I gather most feel that way.  There's a simple reason.  It's not a redan!  It's a fun golf course though, if a bit shoehorned in places.
