I have played it once maybe 10 years ago. Perched on a mountain of sorts, LOTS of wind. From what I remember of the course, significant elevation changes on many holes. Either fairway or jungle. I believe forecaddies required. Aidan's first pic is of the signature hole, par 3 17th? I enjoyed it.

Basically agree with Bruce.  Didn't try to walk; not sure it's very walkable.  Played in the afternoon, so it was quite windy.  There are lots of shots to elevated greens that can be very challenging with a stiff breeze.  Very nice place to have a Red Stripe after the round.

Your caddie/forecaddie will likely disappear into the woods several times during the round . . .

Enjoy the White Witch, good mountainside course.  However, do try to play Cinnamon Hill (right next door).  CH is a better course, much more variety of holes, better caddies!  Walking is not permitted on either course, although your caddies will not mind driving the cart for you.

Also enjoy Scotchies Jerk BBQ, best food on the Island!  Not far from both courses.

Try to be back in your hotel by 11:00 pm each night.  IF YOU HAVE A DAY take a taxi to play Manchester Golf Club in Mandeville, oldest course in western hemisphere, 1867 opening, same 9 holes!  Original 1st hole is now the 5th I think.

If you need a local tour guide call Chris Linton 876-441-3216

I was there last month and Chris did a marvelous job showing us the Island including diner at Scotchies!

I just played there in January.... try and get your money back and head to Cinnamon Hills, looked like a much better course from the road.

The best thing about White Witch was the T-Shirt I bought in the pro shop. Please trust me on this.... Also, the conditions were very poor and very wet.

We went there and played for 3 days...everyone enjoyed themselves, 10th hole is brutal, fun course
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Thanks for the pics, replies and advice. I saw Cinnamon Hill coming in and it looked very open and easy...typical out/in course so with not much rough between so you could hit it anywhere. WW was not like that at all. Cart course and caddies helped for spotting. Turf was not in great shape compared to Cozumel Country Club (where I will play Friday) but did like the elevation changes and sideway lies on the fairway. Will look into playing CH in two weeks when I am back.  Gary, how far is this Manchester course?

The view of Cinnamon Hill from the road is very deceving.  Yes, the front nine is fairly open and easy with many ocean views, the back is in the mountains, and in some cases tight and brutal with a  few amazing forced carries.  An amazing course and we we felt like we had the place to ourselves.  The caddies were definatlely great, and added to the experience.

Manchester is approx 1.5 to 2 hrs from Montego Bay.  It;s a day trip though, play the nine holes twice and then eat at a really good restaurant up on a hill (forget the name).
I had a caddie from CH drive our car once.
Sorry you missed Cinnamon Hill, the holes that appear open, are not!  Maybe 8 and 9 near the highway but even then if you are off the fairway, you are not in position to score.  Turf on CH is also less wet and less side hill.   White Witch is sizzle, Cinammon Hill is steak.  Although the course is new (1999) it follows the 1971 routing for most of the holes..

I have to say the last few months I have played White Witch and Cinnamon Hill about 5 times a piece. WW has more dramatic holes with elevated tee shots and when the wind blows the elevated tees make it hard at times to keep it in play.  I played CH two days ago and the greens there are in much better than condition than WW.  The front and back are completely different and the best hole of the two courses is on CH, ending right into the ocean. Overall the caddies have been spotty and I usually never listen to their reads as it seems they just want you to get close and get done faster. But they also can be a lot of fun from a cultural experience.  Tough to say which one I would play if I could only play one...but for condition right now CH is in better shape, especially around the greens.
