Come on out and join us!!!

We have a few spots available during each session of the upcoming Dixie Cup. If you would like to play in one or more sessions (or just attend a dinner) please click here to sign up:  2011 DIXIE CUP REGISTRATION

The 2011 Dixie Cup is going to Virginia for the first time! Lester George, Richmond-based golf architect, has arranged to host our group on four of his highly rated designs, including Ballyhack and Kinloch!!!

We are limited to 28 players for each session.

Here is the line up and schedule:

Thursday, October 27

Friday, October 28
  • Morning round at Ballyhack Golf Club. Cost = $75 + $25 forecaddy fee.
  • Visit www.ballyhackgolfclub.com to look at a virtual tour of the course.
  • After golf and refreshments everyone will drive to Richmond... a scenic 2-1/2 hour drive.
  • Dinner and lodging in Richmond on your own.

Saturday, October 29
  • Breakfast on your own
  • Morning golf at the exclusive Kanawha Club - very private par-3 course Lester designed for the owner (who has made a major investment). Cost = $50
  • Not many are able to see this course, much less play it! http://www.kanawhaclub.com/concept/
  • Dixie Cuppers will have access to the club and course from 8-11:30AM.  Lester suggests an unofficial nine-hole round followed by some sort of challenge!

  • At 11:30 we will drive a short distance to Kinloch Golf Club, #13 on Golfweek’s Top 100 in 2010. Kinloch is very private and we are indebted to Lester for arranging for the Dixie Cup to be played there.
  • A buffet lunch will be served at noon, followed by golf.
  • The cost for golf and mandatory caddy is $170 (including caddy gratuity).  http://www.kinlochgolfclub.com/Home-1.html
  • Dinner Saturday night at Kinloch will feature a chat session with Lester and hopefully some special guests. COST = $115 for Lunch, Dinner and Open Bar.

Sunday, October 30
  • Breakfast on your own
  • Dixie Cup final round at Lester’s public course design in Richmond: Providence Golf Club. Cost = $45 (walk or ride)
  • Lester describes Providence as 110 acres of great fun with two short par 4’s and two short par 5’s... “all reachable but troublesome!”
  • Providence will complete a great rota of Lester George private national, ultra private short, ultra private, and public courses

The Dixie Cup conflicts with the Renaissance Cup in Bandon?

Sorry, but I'm otherwise engaged ... even though the truly dedicated could skip out on the evening of the 29th and get to Bandon in lieu of Providence and Royal New Kent.

Tom - some day we will get you to attend a Dixie Cup or Buda Cup. Thought there might be a chance we would see you in Surrey.

Maybe when you have a Renaissance Cup in the South we can have a joint event!  ;D

I've played in the Buda, at Painswick.  Were you not there?

The Renaissance Cup is going to Streamsong in October or November, 2012.  However, judging from the responses to this year's event, we will likely have a fuller-than-full field, especially if I get Bill Coore to invite all of HIS past clients for a match play extravaganza.  If there are extra spots, or if the client wants to host the Buda before or after, I'll let you know.

P.S.  There are 3-4 extra spots for the Renaissance Cup, as things stand today.
