Depending on whether or not you are using Shivas' narrow list or the original list, I would consider including:

The Prairie club (Dunes) - Lehman/Brands

What, no Wintonbury Hills (2004) - Pete Dye, Tim Liddy. Without it, it's a scandalous list.

Thats incredible for all these to be historically notable despite their very young age.  I think I have a very different threshold of what historically important is.

Like, why is this decade 11 years long?

Sean:

Call the list a starting point.  I was hoping to whittle it down based on feedback.  Shivas took the expedient route and did the work for me, although I think there are a couple of courses worth adding back.

On the nosy!  I can't believe all of those are "historically notable."  In fact, I'd have to say that historically notable from any decade shouldn't be more than a list of 10-20 courses.  Also, historically notable probably shouldn't be just the best from that decade.  That's why a course like Tobacco Road or Chambers Bay should be included in their decades' list even though they may not be top 10 from it.

Quite a few here that I wouldn't consider "historically notable" by any stretch.

Just to name a few I'm somewhat familiar with ... Stone Canyon, Whisper Rock, WeKoPa, Ravenna, Colorado GC ... all very nice courses, certainly, but notable? I don't see it. None of them are doing anything especially new or notable. They're just good courses. FWIW I have the same impression of places like Alotian, Mayacama, pronghorn and many others but I'm not as familiar with either the course or the area to say for sure.

I would say from the list above, these would seem to fit the category:

Pacific Dunes (2001) – Tom Doak
Kingsley Club (2001) – Mike Devries
Kinloch Golf Club (2001) – Lester George, Vinny Giles
Friar’s Head (2003) – Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw
Ballyneal (2006) – Tom Doak
Sebonack Golf Club (2006) – Tom Doak, Jack Nicklaus
Bayonne Golf Club (2006) – Eric Bergstol
Chambers Bay Golf Club (2007) – Robert Trent Jones Jr., Bruce Charlton
Erin Hills Golf Course (2007) – Michael Hurdzan, Dana Fry, Ron Whitten
Old Macdonald (2010) – Tom Doak, Jim Urbina

I'm sure some that I cut would have valid arguments, but they don't jump out at me.

How about John Daly's Sevillano Links in No. Cal.? The only course built where all 18 holes may be played as par 5's at over 9000 yards.
