Apache Stronghold in early June

A question for any out there who have played Apache Stronghold recently:

I'm headed to AZ on a golf trip with about 20 buddies the first week of June.  Several of us are interested in taking a trip to Apache Stronghold IF it is in decent shape for that time of year.  It is NOT a group of golfers in which all member are especially attuned to GCA, so I don't want to be responsible for a group feeling like they wasted a long drive to play a course in bad shape, which happened to us last year at 7 Canyons.

Anybody seen the course lately, and anybody got a guess as to what it is typically like in early June?

I haven't been out there this year. Globe is generally cooler than PHX(it snowed there last night) and this results in later grass growth there.Howver, by June, the grass should be growing if the facility puts their resources in this task.

AS was closed for awhile but has reopened. It still shows on the website. I doubt that there is much play now due to cool weather.

It is unclear what you will find out there.  A friend played it in August and showed me photos of bunkers filled with grass.  Apparently, they do maintain it minimally (mowing the greens, fairways, etc) but it gets a bit rougher each season.

Damn shame as it is a really fun course to play.

We gave up the idea of playing AS on this year's trip.  A shame, but maybe things will eventually get better.

Top quality public courses without the top fees to play them.

Matt,
Both good suggestions, and thanks.  We have a pretty good lineup of courses already set up; that's obviously no problem in the Scottsdale area, and the package rates right now are just absurdly low.  We were really just hoping that AS was in decent shape and worth the trip to see.
