I'm looking for information on the course at Lyford Cay and only know that it was
designed by Dick Wilson in 1959 and reworked by Bryce Swanson from Rees Jones
in 2006.

Has anybody on gca played this exclusive course before and if so, can you post a paragraph
or two about your round, please?

Thanks in anticipation...

Jim,

I had the pleasure of playing golf at the Lyford Cay Club while residing in Nassau and working on the Albany development down the street.

Here are a few links that may be of interest:

I will post some of the pictures I took a little later.

The golf course is completely inland (i.e. no holes on the water) and although there is some movement in the property overall the course plays pretty flat.  Everytime I played the course was in great shape and can pose a challenge from the tips when playing fast and firm mainly around the greens.

Chase:

Did you meet Sean Connery?  He hangs out there quite a bit in the winter months.  A friend of mine wanted me to get involved in the renovation work there, but I was just too busy at the time to make the trip.

Sir Sean lives in LCC for most of the year, now, from what I have been told and seen.

I saw him on the golf course a few times but only actually met him at a few local restaurants on the Western side of the island.  I am not one to bother people on the golf course.

Jonathan:

Thanks for the links.

Bryce Swanson at Rees Jones has now given me an email address for Ben West,
the club's Director of Golf and I hope to get some background history of the course
from him.

I've also received a PM from a gca member who has played there which is a big help.

That was my real reason for creating the thread, if truth be told: it's all very well
regurgitating stuff already out there about a course - what's really interesting are the
opinions of golfers who have already played and are willing to share some of that
experience with others, especially for a course on such an exclusive property.

I'd love to see your snaps if you get the chance to post them.

Jonathan Webb (or others):
What can you tell us about the Albany development in the Bahamas?  Course seems to be attributed to Els, and Els and Tiger (and Tavistock) seem involved with the development.
