US Open Tune Up at Pine Valley and Merion
« on: June 16, 2012, 10:40:48 PM »
Graeme McDowell tweeted just about 2 weeks ago that he had played Pine Valley and Merion in consecutive days.  Do either of these courses provide a good range of shots similar to The Olympic Club?  Do you think playing those courses shortly before a US Open was a planned tune up or more of a coincidence that it fell in his schedule that way?  Obviously PV is known as one of the toughest, most complete tests of golf in the country, but does it help prepare for a US Open more so than other tough golf courses?

 :D ;D ???

I would think McDowell just enjoyed a chance to play two of the best golf courses in the world . However, back in 1981 , , Ben Crenshaw and David Graham spent four days at PV getting ready for Merion.....Graham went on to win the tournament !
