Back on topic, the notion of the architect returning to advise on the course years after design and opening sounds good.
I've seen Greg Norman first hand advise greens committee members, and the super, as to how things should be set up when playing an exhibition match over one of his courses, a year or two after opening.
Despite the commonly accepted view that Bob Harrison spent 100 hours on the project for every hour of Greg's, The Shark knew tiny details about the course and especially its greens.
His advice on mowing lines, course presentation and some of the pins were not just a reflection of his personal preferece, they were helpful pieces of information which improved the course IMHO.
I imagine other courses would also measurably improve more with a detailed study conducted by the original architect returning years after opening.
