Personally I liked carrying myself without a caddie. I find the most interesting parts of the course, or the most interesting shots to be played, are often from the areas you don't want to be in. I found it fun getting in to trouble because I didn't know exactly where to hit it, then trying to create a recovery from there was exciting. Generally the caddie was $80 or something like that, maybe including tip, I'm not entirely sure.
