We didn't have an official caddy at PD and survived quite well with about a dozen or so choice comments from the two loopers for the other players in our 4-some.. very similar to what you pick up watching the gca videos running on the resort tv channel for BD & PD..
We used our caddy on OM mostly for yardages, confirming wind and elevation impacts between 1-3 clubs at times that day, he had a neat hand drawn layout of each hole.. but talking with Jim Urbina around the course topo map and seeing his slide show was only topped by talking with George Bahto as most influential to local knowledge, and it also didn't hurt to have read through "The Evangelist of Golf"..
The most disconcerting on the three courses we played (BT, OM & PD) was watching our playing partners refusing to adopt the ground game within 50 yards.. and whining about how they couldn't hold the greens.. oh well..
