Bravo, Verne Lundquist (OT)

Quote of the week: "Some things, apparently, haven't changed" -- after Tiger hits a bad tee shot on 6 Saturday, resulting in a string of obscenities picked up by the ubiquitous CBS microphones.

Maybe Nike can figure out some way to sell golf balls using that clip.

What a shame. All of it.

What about a clip with Tiger hitting the ball all over the place and swearing like a sailor and throwing the clubs, with no commentary other than the tagline "Do you care enough about your game? Nike does"

Oh, I'm sure the Nike marketing whiz kids have at least three or four more Tiger scripts in the can that can be ready at any time. We've already seen The Prodigy Era (winning amateurs), Phenom Era (winning majors), The Willis Reed (winning while limping) Era, The Bolt Era (winning while throwing clubs), The Wilt Chamberlain (winning while, ahem) Era, and there will be many more before the Tiger global marketing platform ever slows down.

Cheers!

Big fan of Verne. That's one more memorable call of Tiger for him.

I would be a bigger fan if he would retire from SEC Football for CBS. The man is half there most of the time.

You would never hear Nantz say such a thing.  I have never, ever heard him utter one word that is at all critical, and certainly not at Augusta.  He is the king of 'pretty talk'.

My favorite Verne Lundquist of all time (well, right behind, "Maybe, yes sirrrrrrr!!) is, "There's a new Cinderella and his name is George!" after George Mason beat UConn to go the Final Four.

Your wish has been granted.
