Springdale Golf Club (Princeton) info?
« on: June 05, 2009, 08:20:25 PM »

All I've found is that it was designed in 1915 by Gerard Barnes Lambert (son of Listerine founder), renovated by William Flynn in 1926, and renovated again by Roger Rulewich in 2006 or 2007.

Anyone play it?
Comments or thoughts?
Any pictures?

I played it last year while my sister was attending the college.  It is quite a good golf course, they re-routed the golf course because they moved the clubhouse location.  The back nine is just fantastic, holes 10-15 are all A+ golf holes.  If you have a chance to play it I highly recommend it.  I took pictures while I was out there but I had the camera set on video mode by mistake, so I can't post any of the pictures sorry.  There are also a lot of good par 4's.

I haven't played it in 20 years.  What did Roger Rulewich do?

Thanks for the replies.
I also found this thread:  http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,36779.0/

I did play there on Saturday but the round was cut short due to lightning.
It is a shorter course and very fun.  Lots of trees but I didn't get the feeling from the tee (on most holes) that it was a tight landing area.

There were a couple slight uphill approach shots where it looked like a bunker was right up in front, tight to the green and missing short was trouble.  Overclubbing seemed like the right call.  But when you got up to the green, there were 20 yards in between the bunker and the green.  I could only look back into the fairway and smile.  Very cool and very deceiving.

Sorry no pictures.  I'm selfish- I can't seem to enjoy my round, my walk, and my company when I take pictures.

I found this interesting article on the Springdale golf course, written by Ted Hoyt of the Evening Public Ledger and published in 1927.  Note the part about Flynn and Wilson.
