THE PLAYERS CLUB - Codrington Course
« on: October 11, 2009, 01:45:18 PM »
Designer – Adrian Stiff (2002)

Following on from my trip to the Players Club and helping Adi to put up a set of pics of the main Codrington Course. It has been used as a venue for the Europro Tour – 3rd level tier below the main European Tour and the Challenge Tour. Like the new Stranahan Course this course was built on a landfill site.

Aerial view of Codrington Course – if you want closer inspection type in BS37 6RZ in Google Maps or Earth

Hole 1 – Downhill long par 4, slight dogleg right

Hole 1 – view from tee

Hole 1 – view to front of green with pond to the right

Hole 2 – Long par 3 (Original 2nd Hole has become 17th Hole on Stranahan Course. The new 2nd is from a tee near the 1st hole to the old 3rd green)

Hole 2 – image of green – gorse gives it a linsky feel

Hole 3 – Medium/Long par 4, slight dogleg left – the signature hole at the Players Club – a Pete Dye style hole with railway sleepers fronting the large lake

Hole 3 – view from tee

Hole 3 – view from rear of green showing how expansive this watery grave is!

Hole 3 – a closer view to the green – Adi has plans to remove the railway sleepers and path fronting the green to create a layup area to make the hole fairer and easier for the average golfer.

Hole 4 – Medium par 3 on site boundary – a 15ft raised elevation from the field next door!

Hole 4 – view from tee

Hole 4 – closer view of green

Hole 5 – long par 5, dogleg left, with shallow punchbowl style green

Hole 5 – view from tee, trees on the right makes fairway look tight

Hole 5 – closer view of fairway

Hole 5 – view from rear of green

Hole 6 – medium par 4, dogleg left

Hole 6 – view from side of green showing rugged appearance of bunkers

Hole 7 – short par 4, dogleg right one of 2 new holes formed replacing a monster par 5.

Hole 7 – view of green from fairway bunker

Hole 8 – long par 4 using green of old monster par 5

Hole 8 – view of green from fairway

Hole 9 – short/medium par 5, with the wildest fairway on the course and the largest and most undulated green that looks like it came from TOC

Hole 9 – view to green from fairway

Hole 9 – view from side of green the size of this green is huge alongside a golf buggy!

Hole 10 – medium par 3 over water

Hole 10 – view from front right of green

Hole 11 – medium par 5 with a linksy feel

Hole 11 – view to front of green

Hole 11 – view from rear of green
