 8) I thought it would be about gator or snake or fire ant nest or cart accident!  Wonder what type ball it was?

Sounds like a freak accident. The golf course is a well regarded muny owned by Richardson, which is an inner ring suburb in North Dallas. Not hilly at all but a good sized creek runs through which is more dirt than creek unless it is raining. I would have thought lightning would be the main danger there.

That is a fun little course.  Excellent public option for those in Dallas.  I believe it was designed by D.A. Weibring.

Anyone else enjoy that course?

I have often wondered if anyone ever took a cart over the cliff on the 8th at Pebble or other such similarly tragic event? I remember being a little bit concerned while riding a buggy on the Cashen Course on the cart paths high up in the dunes and having to back down in reverse or risk taking the cart over the dune and nosediving onto the beach a few hundred feet below!

Two good courses there, I think Leon Howard did them and Weibring did the redo.
