... and the number of nights spent on the coach?

Whoa Mike - maybe your game improvement can be attributed to the arrangement you have for settling your debts with your golf coach ...

Mike, it's not such a bad thing for me-have I introduced you to my golf coach?

What's par on that course?
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Talk about a manufactured course ... ;)

Plus a few renovations and restorations ...

Mike,

It looks like two of the restorations elements strongly resemble the Himalayas at Prestwick ;D

My recommendation is to avoid this shortish track in Ardmore, PA called Merion Golf Club, East Course.

They have a bunker guarding a creek, for Pete's sake!  ;)  ;D

Tom Carvel in Pine Plains, NY (back nine - talk about cow pasture, yuck!)
TPC at the Canyons in Vegas (stupid holes...epic waste of $$)
Saxon Woods in White Plains, NY (where does this hole go?)

I'd play these only if the three previously mentioned lovelies paid me to accompany them.  In which case, I'd take one for the team.

Scratch,

At least Saxon Woods has the enhanced beauty of the Hutchinson River Parkway.  Hubbard Heights merely has the screaming ambulances of Stamford Hospital.  Ah the benefits of a great site!  ;>

Mike Cirba:

Are you speaking of Merion's 4th hole??

For many years the worst course I had seen was at Copper Mountain, Colorado, where PB Dye tried to convert a ski slope into a golf course.  But no longer!  That dubious distinction goes to Olde Beau in Roaring Gap, NC. Built on a horribly severe piece of property and designed by the owner. I doubt if he could find a real architect who would take the job. Unfortunately, quite a few unsuspecting souls have bought some fairly upscale homes on the course. They must have not played the course in advance.  If you have a fear of heights, stay away. In fact, stay away, period. Ironically it is located less than a mile from the Roaring Gap Club, a wonderful old Ross course. Just shows the difference between Mr. Ross and an amateur.

"...wouldn't it be great if there was a GCA reference to tell you, at least from one person's perspective, which are the really bad courses..."

brother mIKE_gOLDEN

yes it would be great to be forewarned of potential trouble in golf paradise however one persons' cold gespacho appetizer is another persons' "what the hell is this sh+_# !

i already see a course here in both "heavenly sublime" and "heiroynously (bosch) hell" categories by different people who are equally informed - so all i'm saying is i don't know what to make of it

Tom Paul;

Actually, I'm more speaking of the pot-like fairway bunkers guarding the creek on the 5th hole.  ;)  ;D

After yesterday's conversations about the world's dumbest bunkers, I couldn't resist adding to this thread, purely in a satirical fashion.
