« on: January 31, 2009, 04:07:27 PM »
I'm just back from a trip to the US, took a few photos. Here is a sample of three. Can you guess the courses and holes?
Note the blue sky and sunshine!!!

I'll hazard a guess on #1 is VCMCC in Santa Barbara...?

The 3rd one looks like the first par 5 on the Pine Barrens course at World Woods.

Padraig,
how fares the health of the Greens at CPC? The 4th doesn't look at all well in your pic.
cheers,

George the third photo is the 4th at Pine Barrens at World Woods.

Martin, the greens at Cypress were in great shape, still suffering a bit from nematodes,
but only apparent on the third green where the club are trying some experimental treatments.

The first photo is in California, but not Santa Barbara.

I cheated on #1, but I will not ruin it.

It is designed by the same guy as RJ's guess, though...

The 1st picture looks very much like the 4th hole at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, CA. In fact, the hole behind it looks like the 5th hole at the Meadow Club. But for some reason, I am not sure it is!

Padraig -

Yes, that makes sense! It is the par-3 5th hole and the tee box & green behind it is the 2nd par-3 on the back 9 (#14, I think), the one with the water short & left of the green.

Were you here in the San Fran Bay area within the past couple of weeks? The weather here this time of year is usually not this nice!

David, I was in San Francisco the week before last for a week or so, 75 and sunny every day,
I couldn't believe how nice it was.

I have lived here for 36 years and I could not believe how nice it was either. ;)

#5 was the first hole reworked by Mike DeVries when he did such a masterful job of revitalizing the course. I hope you had a chance to visit with Tully. I always enjoy a few hours going through his amazing database and images he has tucked away in his Apple.
How has the work on #13 tee come out? I would imagine someone showed you where the tee was before.

Ed,

What work was done to No. 13 tee? The only work I remember Tully talking about was the removal of some trees on the left side on No. 15.

Michael, how did you cheat on #1?

simple

hover over the image of the hole.

right click and select properties

enter in the address where the image is being stored into your address bar

then you remove everything beyond the pdools/

hit click and it backdoors into your image hosting page

on that page it clearly says the name of the course, or at least I was able to deduce what mead meant since you just played Cypress too!!
