MPCC Shore Pictures (7th Hole)

7th Hole...... 230yd Par 3 from the back tee:

A more overhead view from Mike Strantz' website:

Mike's original sketch.  There was a bunker proposed for the left front of the green but Strantz was persuaded that 90% of the members would probably take an hour to get out of the thing. It was nixed.

I know not how to get this into the' Long Three Par' thread but here goes.

This is Mike Strantz's 7th hole on MPCC's Shore Course.  Although only about 230 yards long, you can see that if you hit it a yard short of the green you will roll down the slope some twenty to thirty yards.

I will try to post something on the 9th hole of the course, 241 yards with a monumental carry to a severe two tier green.

The Dunes (Raynor's Biarritz)  is 241 yards slightly downhill.  A well hit persimmon 3 wood is enough for the task at hand.

Didn't someone once ace the Biarritz on the Dunes Course with a well hit persimmon 3 wood?

Just to gather a point of reference, what is the total yardage, rating and slope of the MPCC Shore course from the tees shown ?   (tips?)

I've played the hole and liked it very much - but would have preferred Mike's version.

1. Missing left and in the bunker would be better than finishing in the rocks and scrub
2. you would have had a better view of the ocean

Scott's first photograph shows you how severe the front left bank is.  That would be a tough second shot, that 30-40 yard pitch, so far below the green.  Bob, you can't always see the pin from down there, can you?

I only toured the course, but the 7th and especially the 9th hole looked quite difficult.  Very tough par 3s there.

The 7th with a bunker as envisioned would be on the order of the 6th at Pacific Dunes.  No, the green isn't that shallow, but think of how many players can't get out of that hazard in the first place...holding the green is rarely the issue.

These are two very solid, very difficult holes.  For a good player to play the two at a cumulative +1,  I would guess would be an accomplishment.

....why not just play the hole and record your score and move on.
