Golf Ghost Stories
« on: June 04, 2008, 10:53:48 AM »
I’m in the midst of a project documenting paranormal happenings on or around golf courses – ghosts, weird events, unexplained phenomenon (no, not a 22 handicap shooting a 79 in the club championship) and I’m looking for some good stories. If you happen to know of any, preferably something that has happened repeatedly, please send an email with a BRIEF description to Hauntedgolf@gmail.com.

Thanks for your help.

Anthony:

I am aware of one.

There is a slightly demented, rarely-seen ghost that occasionally haunts the front right portion of the 17th green at Pasatiempo.   He appears very infrequently, but when he does, he causes absolute havoc.  His modus apparandi appears to be that he will only come out when overweight Chicagoans with long putters have a good round going.  At that point, he manipulates the putter shaft to cause multiple misses of short putts -- 7 misses in all.  Thereafter, once the damage is done, he relents and slinks back into the shadows of the ravine behind the green ....

That's your story and you're sticking to it!

I'm not the least bit creeped out.

Newport CC members say that after 5-6 Narragansetts the Ghost of Red Lawrence often appears.

Really?  I'll have to try that the next time I'm out there.

That still does not explain the dozen yellow roses we found on the seventh fairway.
