Masters Video Coverage Online Now
« on: April 10, 2008, 11:58:24 AM »
http://www.masters.org/en_US/interactive/live/index.html

There are a few options: live from Amen Corner (running now), live from 15 and 16 (on in a few minutes), and then a bonus hour of total coverage starting at 3 pm.

Great video quality.

That's strange...must be some arrangement made to accommodate the time difference for those across the pond.

How about Poulter's Hole-in-One?!?!
Did you know World Woods has the best burger I've ever had in my entire life? I'm planning a trip back just for another one between rounds.

Campbell and Verplank, back-to-back, nearly aced the 12th.  Bobby Clampett (aargh) said that there hasn't been a Masters hole-in-one at 12 in 20 years!

Can anyone tell me why I watched it earlier and the Amen Corner and 15-16 feed ran in synch with sound and picture, and later I couldn't get the sound to catch up with the picture.  It seemed delayed by moe than 15 seconds.  Is that due to more poeple logging onto the internet pipeline from the Masters.org, or something else in my own PC speed connection?
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

RJ,

I'd highly doubt this is due to something go wrong on your side, because if so, it would have likely never worked correctly in the 1s place.

Its very likely due to the high number of hits the site is getting and trying to keep up with all those requests and corresponding needed bandwidth.  Of course if they were smart, they would be using multi-cast, but don't know if this is the case.

RJ,

Make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash attachment loaded.  If in doubt go to Adobe.com and look for downloads and then Flash for whatever system you have.

I was stuck in the office today and it worked great for me. I watched Amen Corner for most of the players.

Augusta should be congratulated for having this extended coverage.  I hope we see other tourney's move this way.

Best,
Peter

I agree with that but it would also be good if they would have extended coverage on regular TV as well.  Why not show all the play on all four days on TV?  I belive that we still don't see the leaders play the first few holes on Sunday, unless play is delayed.

Wayne,

I think that we are headed toward cameras on every hole.  Within a few years you will be watching this on your computer and following the action as you would want to follow it as if you were there live.  You want to follow Tiger, great, just keep clicking to the next hole as he advances.  You want to park it at number 11 and watch every player come through?  Just turn to channel 11.  Augusta gave us a glimpse of that today but that's where we're headed.  Very cool.  In the not too distant future you will be able to follow Henrik Stenson in all 18 holes in every tournament he plays in the world.  It'll take a few years but that's what today's change will mean.

Augusta just moved the bar for televised golf and in my opinion it was a large move.

Best,
Peter
