The courses at The Villages are designed so that play can get around, therefore very little long grass.  I've played The Palmer course once and it was a decent course without any bad holes but only one really good one, the finisher.  I haven't played it yet, but most people I know who play there enough say Cane Garden is the best course while Orange Blossom Hills (the 1st course built there) is on the best property.  The other thing that is surprising about The Villages is that given the amount of play the courses there receive, play is reasonably quick, 4 hours has been the norm for us even playing in the p.m.  Have fun.

A Golfweek raters outing at the Villages?  This is too easy.

I played there a couple of times and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the architecture. Courses were in good shape, however greens were  soft/slow. I am sure this is the way many of the regulars like them from what I could gather. Sorry not more specific, but I haven't played enough to remember details.

Watch out for the escorts at Katie Bells!!! ;D

Great golf course architects, like great poets, are born, note made.

It's Florida's Friendliest Hometown.

If I ever had the chance, I'd:

1) Play volleyball in the pool with octogenarians;
2) Get on that polo pony with somebody's grandparents;
3) Try to catch a 1 lb. small mouth off the pier with Wilford Brimley
4) Play one of the signature courses with Granny Clampett
5) All of the above until I awoke from a nightmare.

Be Careful... I heard a news report about, this was maybe a year and a half ago, The Villages having the highest STD rate in the nation.  I guess this is per capita.  So if any lovely older ladies try to come on to you... be safe!
