Congratulations once again to the Burroughs and their new little queen.

Is that Papazian Hills I see below?

I increased the size a bit to do justice to some of those
greens, while not the revered small type, there are lots of pin locations.

I think I see the high priest of putting to latter-day disciples down there too.

From the looks of the brown grass and what appears to be sandy soil, it could very well be my back yard,  :'(

By the way, the greens look monsterous..... :o

Unfortunately that is not sand, just mediocre imaging.

Members include 4 former PGA Championship victors,
but they pale to the 3 members who've walked on the moon.

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Oh, to be a fly on the locker room wall (either side) here. I bet
the stories that have been told in there were sure winners.

I don't know how I would ever have been able to look into the past with any degree of pleasure or enjoy the present with any degree of contentment if it had not been for the extraordinary influence the game of golf has had upon my welfare.

In the summer of Woodstock, the place was subject to a mood swing, though it was a very close shave with the commish to be.

I was almost certain that this course was already
featured on AOTD. Maybe it was the other course at the club

Doesn't matter, i've seen neither.

Alan -
Yes quite the bunch of winners, or at least low handicappers.

SPDB -
I thought not, but what do I know?

Hopefully Brad will expand on his insight.

This one of the 2 courses gets it's name from the body of water
to the north, not the location of the "greatest hole on earth"

The owner of was first seen on TV wearing a green jacket,
incidently he was the first televised with one.

It's tough trying to be clever without being too esoteric.

Since we're dealing with the Cypress Creek Course at Champions GC in Houston, I figured a good reference was a famous U.S. Open there:

-summer of Wodstock: June 1969 (close enough, really)
-mood swing: Orville Moody, winner
-shave: third round leader (I think) Miller Barber who came to last holes with a chance to win
-future commish: Deane Beman, among those (with Rosburg and Geiberger) who tied for 2nd one shot back

The 7th green (extreme lower right) is almost 70 yards deep.  After a good Houston thunderstorm, this course is driver, 3-iron all day long.

The first of my questionable clues..

Scott's new QUEEN -
Of course their famed song - Champion.

During a thread about Papazian Hills, Gib made a positive
comment about it looks like it had already been built.

The bulk of my clues came from the following article
http://www.golfdigest.com/features/index.ssf?/features/gd200207burke.htmlWhich Scott posted not too long ago.

I forgot about the US Open in '69.
Nice work Brad.

Cheers

Wasn't this also the course where Hogan played his last
competitive round?

That was a beautiful article, and one that gave me pangs of jealousy. Oh, how I wish my home club could somehow recapture that feeling of private intimacy before the avalanche of lawsuits and political correctness buried us forever.

It almost makes it worse that I was recently at two of the best . . . . the disparity between what is and what ought to be is a chasm too wide for us to cross.

Perhaps one day Redan Hills (FKA Papazian Hills) will be a reality on the left coast.
