If I was Joe Bentham's brother, I might be important ...

Good point.

I've got a group coming to Bandon over the winter holiday (26-31) and might be using your brother for some loops....

Ha ha. That was Jed retracted a post expressing a very different sentiment when he thought I was pulling out.

I'm not pulling out. I'm so in, and excited to see both the course and a lot of GCA'ers, too.

I just played with Matt Cohn at Rustic on Monday.  My suggestion to you Northern Cal boys is to make second place a very big prize, because that is what you are playing for.
It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

Matt's prowess is indeed well known... the only hope to compete with him is our own Andrew Biggadike.

The recruiting efforts for the North have gone very very well.

Perhaps the one-year hiatus of the KP will be a good thing.

Interesting thought... give us another year and we'll be REALLY strong.... hell the way that's going though, we might have enough time to get Tiger Woods on our side... of course this is based on college and/or current residence and not place of birth....

Interesting how Matt, a native of La Jolla, is now the property of Northern Cal.  Now you want Tiger, but I haven't seen you claiming Michelle Wie.

You obviously have been negligent in your review of The King's Putter bylaws.  Let me repeat:

of course this is based on college and/or current residence and not place of birth....

If we base it on place of birth, then you guys get ME.

So respond carefully.

ps - we'll take Wie against this group of hacks without a doubt!

This competition is sounding less frienldy by the post. I'm afraid that if Wie does join in, someone may go "Jeff Gillooly" on her wrists...

Okay, an UPDATE!

We're set on November 17th.

Times are from 11:30-12:00, with the presentation to immediately follow.

There will be "heavy appetizers" served during the presentation that Kyle Phillips design will be doing.

Price will be $50 including food (to walk), $65 to ride. Morgan Creek was designed as a VERY walkable course.

There will be pull carts available as well for free for those walkers who choose not to carry.

Dress code is typical golf club attire, slacks are NOT required, but shirts must be tucked in.

PM for any questions or post here if they're relevant for all to see.

Sounds great, do you have a break down of who is playing with who or at what time. I'll be riding(bad knees) if that makes any difference.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Tim:

I'll do the pairings by handicap and who wants to play with whom and by who's friends with whom and by who's a superintendent or not, and.....

I'll figure it out the week before.

Cause people are trying to get together this weekend, it's like a million pages back, and because tom H. told someone to search for it.

Jed,
Thanks for your efforts, I'm looking forward to seeing the course and hearing what Kyle has to say. Any word on checking out the other course that is being worked on (Del Paso?)?

I dunno...have to follow up with Mark at Kyle Phillips design...but del paso has already been completed.

California club in san francisco is the one that is being worked on currently, we obviously will have to see slides of that.

I'll send him an email.
