Maybe? maybe not?, but it WAS open to public tours the past couple of weekends, which is a more rare occurence the past 6 years...
While it might have been fun to think of a Redan here, or a nice Double-Plateau, or a Punchbowl, what we get is a fairly simple, very flat presentation without much pitch, unlike most of the rest of Washington DC!...
Some years, it probably leans to the left; other years it slants to the right, and many years it probably breaks right down the middle--not many other greens can say that!
It would be nice to think of it as perhaps a place of quiet reflection, where some of the grander issues can be sorted through in a gentlemanly and thoughtful fashion. Perhaps it could be a place where boisterous games of skill and gamesmanship could highlight the true measure of a man, under the less-than-white hot glare of public attention...
Perhaps it's just a putting green...with a most delightful, but demanding setting...
I now count the seconds, wondering where this thread may go...
