How Mike Strantz played competitive matches
« on: October 24, 2007, 12:14:43 AM »
...his Royal New Kent team vs. the Royal County Down staff.  The courses alternated years hosting the event..."we play the 2-1/2, 2-1/2, 2-1/2 game.  2-1/2 hours for 18 holes, 2-1/2 hours of eating and drinking, 2-1/2 hours for another 18 holes.  If you can't play well, play fast."

Thats from my interview.

the first couple of years after RNK opened.  Forrest told me a story or two that I don't remember sitting right here, but I'll be talking to him in a month or so and I've been meaning to find out more myself.  All I do know is what Mike toldme briefly in my interview and a little from Ran's interview as well.

There's no way anyone got around RNK in 2.5 hours.

I can see it happening.  These guys were ten handicaps and better.  Forrest has gotta be a +4 or 5...he shot a 68 recently.

I believe that The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers has been called the 2 1/2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2 Club for some time.

It takes 6-1/2 to play a puny muni in Queens or Brooklyn...thank you eight minute tee times.
