Yeah, I know, just couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Big drivers and hot balls are the product of golf course design that rewards the hit one far then hit one high strategy.  Shinny showed everyone how to take care of this whole technology dilemma. - Pat Brockwell, 6/24/04

Now THAT would achieve Nielsen record ratings.

 ;D ;D ;D

But Sean, which win would you like me to discuss?  2004 or 2007?  Or perhaps would a dissertation on the contrasting efforts required elicit more rapt interest?

I want to hear about the utter destruction of Roy "King" Kong in the first round. You knocking off Kong is similar to what it would have been like had Whitaker knocked off Kuehne yesterday at the Midam.

I still can't believe that the win didn't at least get you an invitation to the Stocker Cup next week at the Preserve. Total BS IMO.

Dying....

Yeah, once again Santa Teresa gets no respect.  We're the Rodney Dangerfield of classic 60's George Santana golf courses.

 ;D

As for my incredible first round upset, all that was heard from the massive crowd was "the King is dead, long live the King."

I disagree with those who think the SWWOG format is automatically superior to PLFTP.  I think the opposite.  There is a place for both, obviously.  And in the former (SWWOG) format, you can simply cover the match as a match, not have too mcuh talking form the players, (they are playing a match, after all) and focus on a host (i.e., Jack Whitaker) doing commentary on the design, construction and history.

But there has never been anything like PLFTP before, and with a player alone, in a 'practice' setting, it frees the player up for more discussion of shotmaking.

I like both formats, for different reasons.  They are not the same.  And, it bears repeating; TGC should replace every moment of the wretched dog-and-pony show, "The Big Break", with either more PLFTP or SWWOG.

It would be fun to have someone give a tour of links golf:

different run up shots
how to play out of the long grass
Techniques for when you are against a sod wall

Maybe Peter Thomson?
