Red Run (W. Park) c. Detroit

Mike Cirba's excellent post about Willie  Park  got me thinking about this motor city course that seems to always get  overshadowed by Oakland Hills, Plum hollow, and even nearby Rackham. Has anyone had an opportunity to play it ?

Played it 2 weeks ago.  Very interesting course.  Course maxes out at about 7100 yards.  5 par 5's and 5 par 3's.  Par 3's and par 5's have a good variance in length.  Parkland course that has gone through an extensive tree removal (according to my host).

It's known or was known as a gamblers course.  The course (with the # of reachable par 5's and short par 4's) lends itself more to match-play.

I enjoyed playing it and I could see playing it daily and not getting bored.

If there was a downpoint, it would be that the greens could be more interesting, although they had not been cut that morning because of the impending heat-wave.
