Did you read the comments attributed to Faldo? (let's hope they're at least taken out of context)

If they're true, it's good that he wasn't able to buy Ballyliffin.

I can think of at least 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland that I'd prefer to play/ be a member of rather than Loch Lomond

Jeff,
Flaydo's comments notwithstanding, how did you enjoy playing Loch Lomond?
Where might it then come in your +100 ranking?

Was Faldo not talking about the conditioning rather than the architecture? Is it worth $55mill. I'm looking for a good deal right now ???

Martin,
I was referring to Loch Lomond as being a course I had no desire to be a member of-not Ballyliffin (which I have yet to get to)
On a trip with some very wealthy, not particularly architecturally savvy golfers, nor players of more than mid handicap ability,we played 11 courses in Scotland-including a couple 9 holers and a few remote courses less than 5500 yards from the tips-as well as a few well known, and hidden gem championship courses.
You'd think Loch Lomond would come in at the top of the list as it was the fanciest place we played.

It finished last in our trip end rankings.

Despite that, we all enjoyed the course-it's just there are so many great places to play and enjoy in the UK.
Out of the 100 or so courses I've played in the UK and Ireland, I'd put it near the bottom of my choices to return to. (that could be because there are so many places I'd like to get to a first time-particularl in England)
But I'm sure that it's merely a matter of taste.

and perhaps it's because if we want inland golf there's a multitude available right here in New York (all in better condition-if that's your bag)
