Who's Your Caddy?

A friend just emailed me the web page for this movie.  Don't know how I missed this one, but thought I would make you aware of it.

Given that I haven't seen a golf movie since Happy Gilmore, I doubt I will see this one either!

"Who's Your Caddy?" is a hilarious, fish-out-of-water comedy about superstar rap mogul, C-Note (Big Boi), who runs into fierce opposition when he tries to join the super stuffy "Carolina Pines Golf & Country Club. Undeterred, C-Note gets the brilliant idea to buy the land adjacent to the golf club's 17th hole, which he cleverly leverages to gain membership. C-Note's crew wreaks havoc as they bring their larger-than-life style to the club. As the club's hoighty-toighty leadership desperately tries to revoke C-Note's membership, our hero realizes that his family's honor – and secret record-breaking golf history – is at stake. As he takes on the fight of his life, C-Note pulls out all of the stops to bring down the club's backwards establishment and welcome them to the 21st century."

Actually, didn't some Skiek or Sultan buy the land near Bel Aire when he was denied membership and proceed to half build a large, monstrous house that dominates the fw?

Actually Paul Fireman did that with a huge house at the Country Club in Brookline.  

Forget the movie read Rick Reilly's book - "Who's your Caddy".
Great read and very funny in certain chapters.

Already read the book. I doubt the movie uses anything other than the title.

I was in that house, having interviewed with Paul to redo Hurdzan's Willow Bend, which he bought when denied membership to Brookline and other clubs.  We played golf and he had us over to lunch.  Very down to earth and nice.

When he bought it, it has seven members left over.
 I went up as part of a team, including a Dallas clubhouse architect who didn't listen too well.  Despite some obvious discomforts among those 8 people, he kept pushing "knockout wet areas" (spas, suanas)  Eventually, Fireman told him that "New Englanders don't walk around naked in front of other people" and that he didn't think the Texas team was culturally in tune with their needs.  

He was as nice as he could be then, too!  I recommended a few good NE gca's and wished him luck.

Didn't Mr. Fireman also build a huge compound outside the gate of another club (Cape Cod Natl. or some name like that) after not being considered for membership?

Weren't those sheiks or sultans Aaron Spelling and Merv Griffin?  

That sort of reminds me of the technique used by Howard Hughes in Las Vegas.

The super private, super weird Hughes came in one night and rented a bunch of high-roller penthouse suites for him and his entourage in one of the big Vegas hotel/casino. He rented those suites under an assumed name so nobody would know it was him.

Not seeing the occupants of those penthouse suites at the tables gambling eventually the hotel asked Hughes to vacate the rooms so they could rent them to high rollers.

Word came back that he'd like to remain in the suites and would pay them whatever they wanted.

A few more times they asked him to vacate the suites and eventually word came back from Hughes that they needn't worry about that anymore because he now owned their hotel.
