What's good to play in Tobago?
« on: February 23, 2007, 01:48:16 PM »
I have an office colleague heading to TOBAGO for a week.  He's staying at the Hilton.  I know NOTHING about golf in T&T.  Anyone have some solid recommendations.

Google search revealed:

http://mtirvine.com/golf/golf.asp

as the seemingly only full-scale course in Tobago.  It apparently hosted a Shell's WWOG in the 60's.

The island golf website is:

I'm silently (meaning under the girlfriend's radar) checking out a round at Mahogany Run when I'm in St. Thomas in a few weeks.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

I saw irvine...any idea who designed it?  The website was silent.

I told him Mt. Irvine was the best shot...

Brad,

I was at Mahogony Run 3 weeks ago.  Worth a play as a fun sporty tropical, mountain, seaside cliff course.  Conditioning was markedly improved this year over previous.  Not worth losing your life to your girlfriend though.  Avoid mornings that cruise ships are there (if that's possible).

Jay,

Here's the aerial.  Looks reasonable from space.  At least it's green.  Looks like an out and back in a mountain ravine layout.  Just go to  http://maps.google.com/  and enter lat, long of 10.72, -61.50 into the search bar and toggle to Satellit and there it is.
