I walked the course a year ago, and I found it to be reasonable. The trip up to 15 takes some time because of the distance, but it is not particularly strenuous.
I wouldn't have an issue walking it again in the future.
Banff has only two tough walks, After the Devil's Cauldron #4, I believe and after the current 14th.
The current routing is not horrible but the original is far superior. What irks me is that the resort knows the original is better and it would not be difficult to have everyone play it that way.
Mike,
Banff is certainly tougher today than Jasper and a case can be made that the bunkering is better. But for me Jasper's brilliance is the limited bunkering and great use of the natural contours of the land. #2, #3, #8, #15 and #18 are holes that really took advantage of the land. #3, #8 and #15 are great examples of holes that required little of no bunkers because the strange contours are enough to make it interesting.
Banff has two exceptional par 3's but Jasper has 4.
Banff is very good and I really loved it as well but Jasper is so much fun to play. Fun is underated. Difficulty is overated.
Kerry.
