Does anyone have pictures or information on the restoration of the Donald Ross Course at French Lick resort.  I can't seem to find any images on the web.

Also, same question for the announced addition of a Pete Dye course to the resort.

Thanks,
Nick

The Ross course is growing in and will have a grand opening on September 8.

The restoration is very true to the original plans, the greens were basically untouched except to return them to their original dimensions. The eighth green was nearly inperceptibly altered to gain some cupping opportunities. Some back tees have been added.

The bunkering is quite good. Depth and character has been added and some of the added bunkers removed and some originals rebuilt.

One of the very best features is the eradication of the old tar cartpaths which have been replaced sparingly with concrete. The course no longer has that interstate look to it.

The weather has been at best adverse but the irrigation and drainage is working quite well. The irrigation pond was drained so that the watrer on the course will be much more effective.

All in all the facility is coming along well but still looked a little raw. The clubhouse has been transformed and is very well done.

The Dye course has been cleared. Don't have a date for completion but it should be no later than early 2008. It is a marvelous site and I would be surprised if Peter doesn't do one of his best on the property.

The Dye course will be public although bot courses and the remainder of the Bendelow course will give preference to hotel and casino guests.

Michael,
Thanks for the information, sounds like a great project, especially once the new course is finished.

Just so happens I was driving across So. Indiana yesterday and was thinking about the same question. Picked up a brochure in a rest area that says one can make a tee time at the Hill Course and several other area courses and hotel reservations ant a number of area hotels through the Dubois County Visitors Bureau- www.duboiscounty.org. Reservations taken up to 6 months in advance, so it says.
