Value of Golf Architects

The latest edition of Golf Course Architecture features an ad for RTJ II on the back page. The ad refers to an report by The Golf Research Group where Robert Trent Jones II, as his firm is called, tops the ranking for "Value of Golf Architects" in Europe and Asia. In the states he is listed as #2.

I am a bit curious about which parameters that are used for determing the "Value of Golf Architects" in this report?

Eric,

I think the value is based on the price of real estate surrounding the golf course.

RTJ2 have had three projects in Norway of which two went bankrupt before they were finished and were then bought up again before being finally completed....so I don't know how much they are worth here...

I think the price of RTJ2 membership in Norway is probably the cheapest in the world...Norwegian golfers are pretty tight...

Thanks for clearing that up, Brian.

Memberships will start at around 40 000 USD when Swedens first RTJ II course, Brohof, is rolled out later this year. If I remember correctly Miklagard was around 15 000 or so back when it was launched?

Yes and now you can pick them up for around 2000 USD!!  Just went onto a website to check and 12000 NOK per share...unreal really.

I think its a very interesting sales and marketing approach that an GCArch firm can take credit for the success of a development based on the price of the Real Estate sold through out the project....when in reality its a combination of many other elements that are needed to create a successful project.

When a project fails you see very few GCArch firms standing up and praising their product....I wonder why?

I will have to contact those researchers now that Sebonack is selling memberships.  Even if I only get half credit for it, that course will drag up my average considerably!
