Dallas next week?
« on: June 29, 2006, 02:24:22 PM »
Dallas folks,

Anybody want to play next weekend? I'm going to be in town covering the Twins-Rangers series and staying out by the airport.

I have a game on Thursday with a friend (I think at Cowboys).

Anyone up for playing Friday morning (the 7th) or Saturday (the 8th) morning or Monday morning (the 10th)? I probably need to be done by 2 on Friday or Saturday. Monday might be a little tighter as I have a 2:50 p.m. flight.

I'd be very interested in playing Texas Star on any of those days. Beyond that I'm open for whatever. Suggestions would also be welcome.

Drop me a message here or email at jeffreyshelman@gmail.com

Thanks.

Jeff --

I'll bet you could get some pretty good offers if you promised to bring young master Mauer with you!

Is he a golfer?

Jeff, I'm no expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last time I was there.

Indian Creek has an outstanding no-frills daily fee.  This is the 36-hole municipal complex in Carrolton.  I cannot wait to get back for a second game there.

Tangle Ridge is another Brauer design on a grand hilly site.  Very enjoyable and different from both Indian Creek and Cowboys.

Avoid the TPC at Las Colinas at all costs.  I played there Saturday.

Last Friday Mr. Brauer escorted me to The Tribute, a course he did not design that has 18 replicas of Scottish holes.  It is a bit generous off the tee so you can shoot a good score if you play well.  Very similar to the New Course at Grand Cypress with better linksland conditions.  Be aware their green fee is over $100, or twice what you'll find at Indian Creek.

Finally, Grapevine is described by friends and sounds similar to Indian Creek.

If you haven't, call the number for Jeff off the Brauer website.  He's a great host and may be looking for a game.  If he brings his son, watch out.

Enjoy Dallas.  I'll be there in late July.

Dan

Let's see, the guy was the #1 overall pick in the MLB Draft, named Gatorade National Player of the Year in football, and was an All-State basketball player good enough to have earned a D1 scholarship if he pursued that as his primary sport.  And you wonder if he's a good golfer?  When would he have found the time!!

Go Twins.  Man, this is exciting.  They just win and so do the teams they are chasing in the Central.

Mauer's also dating the 2005 Miss USA. Pump the name Chelsea Cooley into google and be amazed. Ridiculous.

So bring her along!

You might be flying out to Cypress Point between games, if you play your cards right.
