GCA Fantasy Camp - Who should build Yale II?
« on: June 28, 2006, 06:47:33 AM »
This is fantasy only, there is absolutely no discussion at Yale to do this.

The original routing of Yale was recently found and hung in the clubhouse, with credit to Raynor as "Architect" and MacDonald as "Consultant". The green course is the course we play today, and the brown course is that which was never built.

You are the Yale Committee, who would you use as an architect to build Yale II, using the Raynor routing? Why? What should be the charter for the second course, keeping in mind that the land donated by The Tompkins Family is still for the benefit of the university and its students. Graduates of Cornell, Wake Forest and Texas will be given demerets. ;)

FYI, that is the Yale Bowl in the lower right.

PS. If anyone is interested in a replica of this, let me know. There is going to be a bunch made in the fall with proceeds going to the course.

Mike,

I would be very interested in getting a copy of this routing map.  Was anything else found along with the map that helps with the architectural history?  I couldn't make out details on the map, does it say Raynor was the architect and Macdonald consultant?  Or is there other paperwork that addresses this?

I will let you know when they send out more info.

I am just the messenger, and as a Boston College grad, I am at least smart enough to NOT step on that one!

Need a whole lot of dynamite for this course, so that leaves out the favored ones
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Mike: I would surely like to have one of those replicas if you're making a list or can remind me.  Thanks

Okay...I accept that I'm nuts (and happy today that the NJ Public Links is postponed ;D).

I do like the team of Childs, Bahto (and perhaps bring in KBM to accurately design those so very "benign" greens?). I for one would join that club/course anytime ;D
