Pronunciation of Poa Annua

Whenever I hear discussion of Poa on TV the announcers (just like tonight on TGC) pronounce it as "Po Anna".  I didn't take any Latin at school but shouldn't the Poa rhyme with Boa (as in constrictor) and shouldn't the "U" be pronounced in Annua?

Or am I just being too anal?

Wayne,

You are correct in your pronunciation. What you often hear on TV or elsewhere is lazy English.

I look at it this way: with so many people mispronouncing, using the wrong words, not knowing what some words mean, etc. it is like and endless supply of comedy material...or is it materiel? ;D
