Evan,
Have a great time, we look forward to a full report at KP V. If Cypress is the Sistine Chapel, you are on your way to the pearly gates. 8)

This has been a very interesting thread. I've finally figured out why most midwesterners are nice people, they're all golfers. :)

True 'dat!

Now I see your "frame of reference" in your comments.  There is no doubt that my woman has achieved near sainthood with this summer's allowances...especially considering that I leave tomorrow and am gone for not only the entire holiday weekend (with the boys), but it is her birthday on Sunday!!!  And to then be gone for the entire July 4th weekend as well...well, you get the picture.  Maybe it's all the talk of "tolerance, tolerance, tolerance" we preach in my household?  Maybe its her ultimate understanding of my sickness/passion/obsession for golf?  Or maybe I'm not sure at all...

Then again, maybe she has something "big" planned that I don't know about and she's gonna call in all her chits one of these days.  Guess I gotta just "grin and bear it" for now, enjoy what I've got, and try to please the hell out of her whenever possible.

Heck, I've now "raised the bar" for annual "scheduled" golf trips from two to three...not too shabby from where I stand!

That is a fantastic way to put it.  Methinks I need to paraphrase and add to my taglines here....

And Evan, you are the man.  You rise to the pantheon of heroes.  I've even forgiven you finally for last year's KP-IV stunt.  Just don't get any ideas next week.

Watch out of I will go on about Louisiana golf and all the 9/18 hole courses in the small towns of this state. lol Adam, the girls team was playing ahead of me the day I played at WH. There must have been 10 to 12 of them in 3 groups. They were not very good but the numbers were impressive.

I found a book called "Golf Courses of Iowa" in the bookstore and

Doug,

About a year ago they published an updated version of 'Golf Courses of Iowa'.  I picked up a copy online at Barnes and Noble.  The book has more pages and more courses listed than the version published in the early '90s.  There have been quite a number of new courses constructed since then.  Most of the information is the same as the last for the nine-hole courses with some updated cost information.  I think it's worth the $20 it cost.

Looking at the NE weather... boy did that bunch luck out on mild  weather and variable winds.  Perfect for golf out there.
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

You hit the nail, Dick!!!

Except for high winds at WH on Sunday it was puuuurrrrrfect weather!

99 holes of golf for me in about 52 hours...now Paul Thomas on the other hand played MANY more holes than that in a few more days (more time on his hands, I guess!  :o 8) ).  He is in Omaha playing his "final" trip round then back to Chi-town for him.

More to follow...

I seem to remember there being a government program that encouraged the building of golf courses in rural areas as one of the reasons for all the courses -- maybe a new deal thing. Alot of so-so golf in Iowa but a great place to grow up.
