Kyle,

Could you sound off on the irrigation system at HVCC?  What is the pump gpm, and general main line sizes?

The topic about affordable golf in sand has me wondering if I interpreted my conversation with Scott Anderson correctly about his watering technics.

Troy,

Check your PM.

Also, have you read his interview posted on GCA?

Kyle,

I have read the article which prompted me to personally call Scott.  Sorry, I am looking for the easy way for the info and to get another view point about the system.

So what is your opinion on sizing irrigation systems, is bigger better?

Troy,

Not trying to duck your question - I just simply don't know enough about irrigation to give you a useful answer or even opinion.

My only experience is with HVCC as I've spent 5 years as a golf professional. Greenkeeping is much more interesting to me.

Actually have no basis of comparison, and it surprises me to find out that courses use so much water!

Kyle,

HVCC is a very special place with a very understanding membership.

The hardest thing for a GC Supt to do is turn off the water, job security.  I am in the high desert of Central Oregon and can use 80 to 110 million gallons of water per year, averaging 15 minutes per day every day during the growing season, April through October.  I do not water every day though and cycle 30 minutes to cover the whole golf course in one night, 8pm to 6am.

I will go through the interview with Scott again to gather the numbers.
