GolfClubAtlas Not Secure
« on: February 11, 2022, 07:20:31 PM »

Anybody else getting an error that the site is not secure.  It's happening on both a laptop with Windows 11 and an Android mobile phone.  The error code is:

NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID

The message that comes with it says that hackers might be trying to steal data and,

"This server could not prove that it is www.golfclubatlas.com; its security certificate expired in the last day. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection. Your computer's clock is currently set to Friday, February 11, 2022. Does that look right? If not, you should correct your system's clock and then refresh this page."

I'm logging out now.

Yup, same message in Chrome.  Looks like someone forgot to update the certificate.

P.S.  If the password you use to login to this site is the same for any others, I would change it pronto.

Is happening to me on every link I click.  Curious if there is a bypass on Chrome.

Looks like they got it squared away.  Chrome now reports the certificate is secure.  Although looks like its just a temp cert as it expires in 3 months.  Perhaps an emergency injunction of sorts to get back up and running.

Where does this show up as I have not seen this?
But needed a second email is the whole purpose behind a recovery in case you lose access to the first email for a variety of reasons which can happen - like you used a corporate email and leave the company, or your email account gets hacked and you can't get that fixed or various other reasons.  It makes sense to set one up - you can always create a new email at gmail or outlook or whatever and just keep that for these backup services and not use it otherwise.

I'm astonished that anyone has one email address in this age of technology.

Question: is it bitnet or fidonet? Asking for a historian.

Still unclear what the scenario was in asking for a 2nd email address in a recovery scenario, as I was never prompted.

That's a common phishing technique that's been around for years, I would be very suspicious of that.  Phishing overall remains the #1 method of success for penetrating IT systems.

I haven't seen this either, but I still think it is a good idea. My first email address was in the early days of the internet in the mid 90s was with my employer. When I left that organization in 2016 and no longer had access to my email I lost access to some accounts - which I didn't realize until months (or years) later when I needed to do a password reset. So having a second email makes sense. I probably shouldn't have used that work email address, but you don't always get around to changing things like that.

Still a bit confused.

I just went into my account settings and I can see my existing email address or change it to a different one.  But it doesn't even have an option for a 2nd email address.

Drive carefully man....
