How do you split them up among the many wonderful courses in this state?

That's a very generous Easter Bunny.  I haven't played the sampling of courses many have on this site but of the one's I've played or know well, I'd be something like:

Shinnecock Hills  18
National  10
Westchester East and West  10 (5 and 5)
Fishers Island 10
Friar's Head  9
Maidstone  7
Pocantico Hills 6
Creek  6
Piping Rock 6
Sebonack  6
Fenway  4
Leatherstocking  3  (thanks for the reminder)
Bethpage Black 3
Westhampton  2

I would  throw in a few rounds at Leatherstocking, that is a very fun course....also a round at Olde Kinderhook, I know it is Rees, but it is very nice.

New Orleans, proud to swim home...........

Jason,

You'd give one round to Long Island National and none to Shinnecock.  Adjust man, adjust  ;D

Mark,

Pocantico Hills GC is on my list and is the Rockefeller family course on their estate in Tarrytown.

100 I haven't played

I'll start with Deepdale, Sebonack, Laurel Links, Ammagansett, LI National, Oak Hill (2), CC of Rochester, Teugega, Troy, Monroe, Mark Twain, Buffalo  and the other courses at Bethpage State Park to name a few.

golfcourse.com lists 886, I think I can find 100.

Wayne - only one course northwest of Orange county?

Surely there are others:
Oak Hill (Ross)
CC of Buffalo (Ross)
Irondequoit CC (Ross)
CC of Rochester (Ross)
Niagara Falls CC (Tillie?)
Stafford CC (Travis)

Moderns:
Turning Stone has 3 courses
Ravenwood

I'm not saying these are as good as some of the LI courses, but they do serve to show the diversity of the Upstate golf experience.

Yes - there is golf in NY up there where we have Chicago-like accents :)

Dan,

I only listed the courses I know.  Sorry, I don't get around as much as I'd like.  I did add Leatherstocking after omitting it in the first allocation.  Over the last few years I've spent too much time writing and getting adhesive capsulitis in my left shoulder!

Jason,

Only 5, huh?  Same number as Laurel Links.  Well, to each his own.

Wayne:

It's still magical, but after playing it twice this past summer it's a very hard golf course and I think I've waited some others (that I've not played yet) too much.  There's only so many times I can be beat up.  However, it's probably closer to 10 or more.

Dan,

Snow showers this morning not withstanding, we should be getting together pretty soon, right?  How about early next month?

Jason,

Understood.  Thanks, like Danny boy, I was just busting on you  ;)

I look forward to your My Home Course, Dan.  That should interest a lot of folks on this site.  See you soon.

BTW, I have TV envy.  We only have regular definition  :P
