Can I get Phil to break my Timex?
« on: March 05, 2006, 08:18:26 AM »
Looks like Phil pushed a shot into the crowd on one hole yesterday and broke the watch on some guy's wrist. As the cameras eyed the guy and his wrist Phil walked up the guy and handed him some folded up cash. As the camera zoomed in the guy appeared to be putting the folded up cash in his pocket but then he decided to semi-unfold it and show the camera a bunch of "C" notes. Kind of cool on Phil's part but if I ever go to a Tour even in person I'm holding my Timex wrist up any time I see a ball coming my way. Maybe I'll even hang around in the crowd near the LZ's with a bunch of old busted Timexes and some of those little packets of Ketchup. A good day might gross me a couple of grand and maybe even a Rolex or two. That's certainly better than a poke in the eye. ;)

Geeze, I don't walk around on a normal day with more than a $20.00 in my pocket.  Its interesting that Phil would be playing in a tournament with a few hundred in his.

Was he going to buy a couple of dogs and a sleeve of Callaways at the turn or something?

with all that money he's got Dave he's probably got it EVERYWHERE - golf bags, cookie jars, vases, pockets of the green jacket, the Wanamaker (sp?) trophy, in his sock drawer,...........................................

How do you guys know they were C-notes? All your stoopid banknotes LOOK THE SAME! I never know how much money I've got in my wallet when I'm in the States.

Admittedly, this is coming from a guy whose country has the worst designed currency in the world.

Why did Phil have a whole bunch of "C" notes in his pocket or in his bag?

What, are you kidding me? I bet Phil carries around at least a couple hundred grand in cash at all times. In Phil's world one must be prepared to gamble outrageous sums of money at a moment's notice. How in the hell do you wahoos think a guy like Phil can rack up a gambling debt of over $10 million??  ;)

According to Associated Press article in today's news Phil pulled two $100 bills from his golf bag and handed them to the victim. Phil's quote "It wasn't a Rolex" !

Maybe Phil is trying Moe Norman's ploy to beat Tiger. Moe would carry hugh amounts of money in his pocket during tournaments so that he wouldn't worry about missing a putt that might cost him a measly 5 grand.

You guys keep talkin about Phil's gambling habits, and maybe you will get Phil to have his clock cleaned by Amy for gambling away the kids book fees and milk money. ::)

Tom,

Not by carrying all his betting cash in his pocket, that's for sure. ;)

What you really want to do is be the locker room guy on a week when Phil wins. He had a ridiculous quote in one of the magazines a few years ago about his tipping practices.

The first thing I do is look at the number on the bill, that usually gives me a good hint about its worth. ;)

Isn't Phil sponsored by Rolex? I guess he didn't have any of those in his bag, just the one on his wrist.  :P

When they mentioned the Phil did something for the guy that he broke his watch, I was kinda suprised that Phil didn't just give him the watch off of his arm.
