Tony, in my naivety, I simply didn't consider that prospect of gag clauses in their endorsement deals.  I'm a big stupid... ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

RJ, hopefully Ogilvy will continue to improve, and we'll hear more of the same.  He has the opportunity to become a real statesman of the game.

The apparent difference between Ogilvy and some of the others is that Ogilvy is concerned with the game rather than just his own game.

Great Point D.Moriarty..

Let's all remember..the market drives everything..
Golf Course Architecture does not fare well under that principle..
Sure "the market" provides us better gear..
But it seems to me many new courses are getting longer just to make the "market work"..
Balls or Clubs..everyone knows what the problems are..
But I don't think for a minute Tour Pros are going to change the hearts and minds of the equipment companies, the USGA or the R&A..
It's going to come down from some Federal Judge who will determine what place "the market" has in our game..
And that's a shame..

The market does, or should, drive everything.  Because what is the market?  The will of the people.  It's how they choose to use their resources.  A shame if other things, like judges, are allowed to interfere with that.

Looks like he was reading Paul Daley's Golf Arch. A WW Perspective Vol. 2

Lyn: thank you for starting this thread, for it gives an opportunity to go slightly off-topic and comment about DL111's disgraceful speech after losing to Ogilvy. Always prone to be wearing the look of a conceited, spoilt brat, he now sounded it. Go back to the tape and something will leave you gob-smacked: perhaps 15-25 times, Love said, in reference to Ogilvy, "He ...He ... He ... He ..." ad infinitum". Did he not know the name of the gifted guy that just beat him hollow? Call me old-fashioned but Love's shitty arrogance gives me the pip.

Back on topic: Ogilvy has always been interested in golf-course architecture, and is one friendly, down-to-earth guy, to boot.
