Matt,

What "detailed" opinion do you refer to made by me about the Bay course?  I never gave a detailed account of the Bay course.  In fact, I made mention I didn't know it that well but still gave it the overwhelming nod for charm and fun.  Stop fabricating, your weak position suffers even more.

As for my characterization of your comment about the Pines and its avoidance, your own words are evidence of the simplistic nature of it.  But I'd rather you be brief and uninformative than wordy and uniformative, so I guess there is some improvement.

Tom,

Yes, you are correct.  There are several letters that discuss the Bay Course and Hugh Wilson, starting in 1915 I believe.  These letters and the news accounts provided by Pete Jones corraborate that Wilson designed and built the Bay course and Ross came in a year or so later to do the bunkers and redesign some greens and tees.  Also the reports of Pickering being even more drunk than at Merion are in the letters.  Ron Whitten wasn't aware of the letters and is certainly interested in them.  He will also review our book when it finally does get released.

You are also correct that those drawings at the Tufts are copies from the drawings in the clubhouse hallway.

Craig,

That's very interesting about green shrinkage to that extent and the planting of trees.  They are both very sorry steps to have been taken.

If I was to have a choice I would find someone at Commerce Bank to help me and go down the street and play Galloway - perhaps Fazio's best course.
